L’As Du Fallafel

8.5/10

So I was in paris this last month and one of my first eats was this Falafel place. So for 5.50 euros I got a big piece of pita bread stuffed with falafel, tomatoes, pickled red cabbage, grilled eggplant, onion, tzatziki sauce, and a hot sauce. The falafel itself tasted pretty good; I wouldn’t have minded if it had some more spice in it. However, the two sauce specially the hot sauce helped give more flavour. I really disliked the eggplant in it because it was to oily for me and I hate that oil taste, but my friend liked it and had all of mine. Overall for the price ( it is Paris) it was very filling and satisfying since most of Parisian food is butter, bread, ham, and cheese which for me can get so bland. I need my spice and veggies. This is also great for all the non meat eaters traveling in Paris. I would ask for more hot sauce if I had to go back!

* Falafel is like meat ball made out of chickpeas or/and fava beans and cumin ( and other spices depending on the place) are added. It is fried.

Richmond Night Market 9/10

So this past weekend I made my annual trip down to the Richmond Night market where I got to taste some GREAT stuff. So I began with a chicken karaage ( mini for $5) which was so juicy and tasty. It was a great fried chicken and exactly how I like it. It had a little bit of sweet chilli sauce to that I wish they had put more because they tasted so well together. My second treat was a Taiyaki which is pancake/waffle batter put in a fish mold that has a filling inside. I decided to go with the original filling of red bean paste made from azuki beans. ( 1 for $3) It was so good however people who are not use to the red bean taste might not like it. It took me multiple tastings of it to finally fall in love. My next thing was Takoyaki and I got the original version with octopus, it was ok, I really really don’t like the shaving stuff on top it smells and taste like imitation bacon it really puts me off . I can not stand it. For dessert I had strawberry shaved ice ($5.50) and it was what i expected it was no where as good as i think Patbinsu would have been. I mostly found myself crunching taste less ice. I would have loved of of those sweet red beans. All in All I enjoyed all my mini dishes ( key word is mini) It is a nice thing to do once a summer but i feel like the prices have went up or the quantity has went down but I wish there was more food per dollar.

Moodyville Cafe 7.5/10

So for $10.50 I got scrambled eggs , 3 sausages, and 2 pancakes (very fluffy). It was a lot of food and I regret getting so much because it gave me a food coma for the rest of the day. Personally I prefer breakfast that had no meat and just a lot of fuits. Breakfasts like this tend to slow me down and make my body tired. It was diffenetly a typical “American” breakfast and so some people can handle the refined flour and sausage and eggs but for me I would like way more fruits. Go if you like this style of food. All in all very good but not my thing ( I’m more waffles… I wish i got the french toast instead)

Nicli Antica Pizzeria 8.5/10 So I tried this pizza place in Gastown, I got the funghi pizza which was tomato sauce, mushrooms, basil, and cheese. It was very filling ( only had 2/3) but it was around $16 before tax and tip so a little pricey. It was honestly a great place for wood fired thin crust pizza buy the price was a little too much for me to go often. Our waitress was also really nice and great service.

I was really craving a burger and so i tried Fatburger on Davie and it was really good. It had the thin fries, and the burger meat was seasoned well with the right amount of toppings. My friend got a poutine that was just packed with gravy and cheese ( a little too salty) 8.5/10

My friend and I tried Theirry’s chocolatier and it was so good! It is pricey and the portions do look small but they are so dense that we felt satisfied. I highly recommend visiting the cafe and trying anything that has chocolate in it and I recommend getting a tea or coffee to compliment the sweet desserts

I usually take any one who visits Vancouver to Japadog, and they love it. It is cool, different and great price. I ,however, am not a big fan an it had to do with the type of sausage it is different from the north american style and I traveled Japan and I quickly realized the hot dogs there are quite different. I am not too into the taste but all the people I have went with have l loved it so it is worth a try. 5/10

This is from my visit to Motomachi Shokudo which is close to the famous Kintaro place, we did not feel like waiting in line so we went to this ramen place which I though was really good. It was small but not overly busy and it is great for a cold summer night or a rainy fall Vancouver day. It is pretty salty but it was very filling and I was not even able to finish my whole bowl. My rating is 8/10

So first restaurant review is Stepho’s Greek Taverna, I have food from their quite often (this is a pic of takeout) I have had a lamb, beef, and chicken souvlaki and I like them all pretty equally. The food is a little dry but for the price it is so good and so filling. So my rating is 9.5/10
